Made my own recipe for these based on a previous try for Xmas ’15. To quote Chris.. “Lets just say it’s probably a good thing you gave me a small container.. Because holy cow that shizniz is good.”
Candied Pecans
Ingredients
- 2 lbs pecan halves
- 2 egg whites
- 2 tsp cold water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 stick of salted butter
- 1 tablespoon Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla extract
- 2 Tbsp light corn syrup
- 2 tsp of cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg fresh grated if you have it
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Pour pecans into a large bowl.
- In a separate bowl, mix together granulated sugar, dark brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, whip egg whites and water until frothy.
- Add egg white mixture to the pecans and stir until coated.
- Add the sugar/seasoning mixture to the pecans, stir until coated.
- Melt butter into a glass measuring cup in the microwave at 50%.
- When melted, add in the vanilla and corn syrup. Stir mixture and add to pecans. Stir until coated well.
- Transfer to baking sheets or roasting pan.
- Bake at 225 uncovered for 1.5 hours.
- Stir every 30 minutes.
- Once done, let cool and store in airtight containers.
