Beef Sandwiches with Au Jus

Beef Sandwiches with Au Jus

Servings 4 servings

Ingredients
  

  • 1 T light olive oil
  • 1 green pepper sliced in 1/4" strips
  • 1 large sweet onion sliced in 1/4" strips
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 tsp Jamieson's beef bouillon
  • 1-2 tsp Gravy Master optional
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 lb sliced seasoned deli beef
  • French baguettes for sliced buns
  • Provolone cheese optional

Instructions
 

  • Over medium heat in a sauce pan, saute green peppers and garlic in olive oil until all are slightly browned.
  • Add remaining ingredients and let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  • Ten minutes before sandwich prep, preheat oven broiler.
  • Slice open baguette rolls. Drop sliced beef into saucepan with au jus. Let heat briefly (1-2 minutes) and immediately place on sliced rolls. Top with Provolone and put under broiler until cheese is nicely melted and bubbly.
  • Serve sandwiches with small bowl of au jus for dipping.
