Beef Sandwiches with Au Jus
A quick dinner for a busy night or for a large group.
Ingredients
- 1 T light olive oil
- 1 green pepper sliced in 1/4" strips
- 1 large sweet onion sliced in 1/4" strips
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 4 cups water
- 4 tsp Jamieson's beef bouillon
- 1-2 tsp Gravy Master optional
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 lb sliced seasoned deli beef
- French baguettes for sliced buns
- Provolone cheese optional
Instructions
- Over medium heat in a sauce pan, saute green peppers and garlic in olive oil until all are slightly browned.
- Add remaining ingredients and let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Ten minutes before sandwich prep, preheat oven broiler.
- Slice open baguette rolls. Drop sliced beef into saucepan with au jus. Let heat briefly (1-2 minutes) and immediately place on sliced rolls. Top with Provolone and put under broiler until cheese is nicely melted and bubbly.
- Serve sandwiches with small bowl of au jus for dipping.
